Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner, so now is the time to start planning some fun family activities! From camps that inspire creativity to local productions of the iconic Nutcracker, to fueling up for all the festivities, Family Entourage has you covered this holiday season.

ArtReach San Diego

While many look forward to the holiday breaks, it can also leave many wondering what to do with all that free time. From day camps during Thanksgiving and Winter break to Family workshop classes, ArtReach San Diego, has a variety of options to keep kids busy. We think that art classes can be a great option for kids because creating art enhances cognitive function by improving memory, attention, and visual-spatial skills, plus they are creating unique projects that they can be proud of. Also, starting in January, ArtReach will be having free art classes every month.

ArtReach’s day camp was recently voted, “Best of San Diego 2025” by San Diego Magazine’s readers’ picks. Their art camp is a dynamic program led by the Studio Programs Team. It’s designed for elementary-aged students and fosters imagination and gives kids a chance to engage in lessons inspired by contemporary artists. In addition to the camps, ArtReach has monthly family workshop classes, where families can work on a themed project together. December’s class is Holiday Cookie Decorating, where families will use colorful frostings, sprinkles, and fun piping techniques to transform sweater-shaped sugar cookies into edible fashion.

The Nutcracker

One of our family’s favorite traditions is going to see the Nutcracker Ballet. From the sugar plum fairies to Clara and the Rat King battle, we love watching the talented dancers bring the classic Nutcracker story to life. We love the Scripps Performing Arts Academy’s Nutcracker performance. It is a great performance because aspiring dancers can watch peers their own age perform and be inspired to potentially take a class and be a part of the performance next year!

Our girls have been dancing at Scripps Performing Arts Academy for years because they inspire learning from the inside out, rather than trying to motivate students from the outside in. Utilizing age-appropriate costumes and choreography, they produce beautiful and meaningful dance and musical theatre productions in lieu of dance competitions and recitals.

The holidays are full of festive fun, shopping, activities and in between all the busyness meals need to be had. So whether it’s grab and go, staple homestyle favorites or recipe planning… Lazy Acres is the must stop location for families for everything they need during this packed season.

Between early morning school drop offs, sports practices and work… the Coffee and Juice Bar is a must! From detox blends to classic fresh-pressed juices available made to order or pre-made in sustainable glass bottles. As the holidays season begins we so excited for holiday favorites like Coconog, ready to enjoy from the grab & go case for a non-dairy spin on the classic eggnog or a pumpkin spice latte with espresso and our own housemade syrup. Of course hot drip coffee for the adults and creamy hot chocolate for the kiddos.

When it comes to meals and snacks, Lazy Acres has taken all the guess work out and really wants to support families in the day-to-day. They have amazing prepped foods with their salad bar that has all organic veggies and paleo-friendly dressings. The poke bar is made fresh daily and you can completely customize a bowl. The Grab & Go case has a variety of housemade proteins and sides that are easy to grab and take home to heat up as a fast meal option. The Encinitas location boasts a Baja Bar with beef that is grass-fed wagyu from First Light Farms and the Chicken is Non-GMO California-raised from Mary’s. Additionally don’t forget all the fresh produce that you can grab and prep veggies or berries for an easy snack while sitting the dining area or on the road.

Plus, Lazy Acres has Envirotokens where through their mission of supporting the communities they operate in, the program rewards customers who make the sustainable choice to reuse bags and keep single-use items out of local landfills. When you shop at Lazy Acres and bring your own reusable bags, you get a 10¢ Envirotoken per bag. The customer then pays it forward to one of six local nonprofits that Lazy Acres has hand-selected doing important work with a focus in K-12 education efforts, hunger relief and environmental stewardship.

Since starting the program in Spring 2023, together we have donated over $110,000 and kept roughly 1.1 million single-use bags out of local landfills. Over $25,000 of those funds went back into non-profits in the San Diego Community. Every summer, the community votes on the non-profits that they would like to see at their stores to support for the next year! Just a way Lazy Acres gives back not only at Thanksgiving time but all year round.
