From Spring Break to Easter, it’s the season of new beginnings and joy! We share ways to celebrate springtime by getting your family outdoors, creating memories together, and taking time for traditions.

Spring into Action

Whether you are headed to the ball field or basking at the beach, the days are getting longer, and warmer, so spending more time outdoors is a must. One of our must-haves as we enjoy spring weather is Coolibar.  It was pretty shocking for us to learn that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer over the course of a lifetime, and there is a 300% increase in skin cancer incidences over the past 40 years! So sun protection tops our list as we head outside.

The whole family loves sun protective clothing from Coolibar. From collared shirts that are great for golf to tennis skirts and windbreakers, Coolibar has a great range of clothing for all of your activities. We also love that they have lots of great stylish options too like dresses to wear to brunch or tunics. With UPF 50+ built into the fabric, we know we are staying safe while also looking stylish. Tested more than any other brand, endorsed by experts worldwide and recommended by dermatologists, Coolibar industry-leading fabrics block 98% of UVA/UVB rays to provide you with ultimate UPF 50+ protection guaranteed for the life of the garment as set by ASTM/AATCC standards.

Ear-resistible Easter Memories

Egg hunts are fun and flowers are pretty, but it’s all about the bunny for the kids! What better way to enjoy time with our fluffy friend than at the Easter Bunny Teas at Westgate Hotel.

The Westgate is a jewel of San Diego built in 1970 to reflect the Palace of Versailles in France, the decor is stunning and it makes it easy to celebrate spring in elegance with their scrumptious signature Parisian-style afternoon tea. Delicious proof of Westgate’s generations-long love of afternoon tea, the Easter tea is served with a delicious selection of house-made sweet delicacies, yummy child-friendly petit-fours, savory tea sandwiches and pastries. All accompanied with a choice of freshly brewed fine teas and a special hop-in appearance from the Easter Bunny himself. Plus each child receives a keepsake Easter basket!

Take Time for Traditions

It can be so easy to rush from one activity to the next. But with several holidays occurring in the spring, it is important to take time to learn more about other cultures and traditions. We love Days United for helping us have a fun, hands-on way to learn more about other holidays. Days United has boxes for families to make holiday memories with their families for Jewish, Indian and Chinese cultures. With Passover coming up, we thought it would be great to learn more about the holiday. The Days United Passover box is filled with instructions and materials to do eight activities you can do together with your family or friends.

From Ten Plagues origami and making yummy Passover treats to making your own Afikoman cover, the kids loved all of the hands-on activities. There’s even a step-by-step holiday guide for beginners and experts alike. It covers meaningful Passover traditions, blessings, how to prepare for a seder, festive Passover recipes, and much more!  I loved that everything was included in the box. I didn’t have to order craft supplies or come up with my own ideas. It also comes with a book that gives the background of the holiday.

Whether you want to learn more about a specific holiday or celebration or just looking for a way for your family to deepen their understanding of their own culture, the boxes are thoughtfully curated with some great activities for families or students to do together. You can subscribe to an entire series or just get one box.

Easy Easter Crafts & DIY Art

April showers bring May flowers, but sometimes the little bunnies need something to do on those rainy days. We choose easy Easter crafts and coloring sheets.

Personalize and keep it super simple with handprint bunnies. With barely any supplies needed, kidstrace their hands, draw faces and added details, cut out it out of the construction paper and then fold fingers forward, and back to reveal an adorable Easter bunny!

Or smudge gel pens, or chalk around a bunny silhouette to create a colorful piece of art. We used Faber-Castell for all our art needs from black paper, to pens, colored pencils and markers. Plus visit Zonderkidz for free coloring sheets, activities and more.
