Thanksgiving is almost here and the whether we’re crafting in the house or hitting the road for adventure, Family Entourage shares ways to keep busy and festive happenings for the family this holiday season.

Thanksgiving Week Crafts to Keep Kids Busy

Whether you’re writing what you’re thankful for on construction paper feathers for your Turkey Day headband, or you’re grabbing all your brown paper groceries bags and turning them into festive vests for the family relay… kids love crafting and coloring and it keeps them busy while providing tons of fun. One must-have supply item is the Marker Parker because it keeps all the pen caps in place so markers don’t get dried out, lost or end up in places they shouldn’t be. Plus it was invented by a student and the mommy/daughter duo took it to the next level to help families.

SkyPark Santa’s Village

Head up to Lake Arrowhead this week and literally feel transported to Santa’s Village where the 15-acre SkyPark is nestled. These North Woods provide loads of family fun from toy making in Santa’s workshop, to archery, biking, face painting, ice skating and both musical, and magic, shows.

One-on-one time with Santa at his house is an absolute highlight at SkyPark Santa’s Village. The kids love all the entertainment, games, and the overall atmosphere of feeling like they were in the North Pole. The weather can be cold (and sometimes snow) which all adds to the experience. We love to indulge on cookies and hot chocolate and watched the character parade leading to the lighting of the Christmas tree just once dark.

Visiting SkyPark Santa’s Village is an annual highlight for the whole family, book your reservations now through January 7.

Wixels Art Activities

Keeping little hands busy whether you’re traveling to grandma’s for the feast or up to Lake Arrowhead… or maybe you just need kids to have crafts that provide independence from parents so you can attend to the cooking in the kitchen or socialize with guests, there are many ways for creativity through art activities. One of our favorites is the new Wixels sets from Crayola. Inexpensive and reusable — two key words! — innovative way to do pixel art while teaching concentration and patience in a creative way. Once done can show off masterpieces and display in house too.

Noel Noel at The Shell

Christmas music goes all day every day the minute Thanksgiving is over in our household. One of our most favorite venues in San Diego is The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and this December the Symphony Orchestra, Master Chorale and San Diego Children’s Choir all return for Noel Noel.

The season of holiday programming begins with three show-stopping performances of the Symphony’s annual Noel, Noel on December 15, 16, and 17. Audiences will also experience the return of Noel as she and her friends search for Santa and the magic that he brings with the season. New to this year’s performance will be featured guest vocalist, Devin DeSantis. It’s a program full of Christmas classics, holiday cheer, and jolly spirit.

Be sure to check out the whole lineup of performances at The Shell including Derek Hough and his Symphony of Dance and other headliners throughout 2024.
