You know Benjamin Bratt that P.E. teacher your kids are always talking about — wait, no that’s not right. He is the actor from Traffic, and Miss Congeniality to Despicable Me and The Infiltrator. But if Bratt’s trajectory hadn’t shifted, he might have been your kids third period teacher. Bratt shares:
“When I was a kid and involved in athletics I had such admiration for my coaches. I think at one point, maybe my sophomore year in high school, I thought to myself, ‘I want to be a P.E. instructor.’ Looking back I think it was because I recognize the importance of having a mentor, someone who sees value in what you are doing, and in your hard work and what kind of impact that has on a young life.”
Bratt recognizes it even more with his own children Sophia and Mateo. He shares:
“…especially now as my own children are in sports I realize everyone in their circle — whether its a teacher or a coach, or other parents in the community — they are all mentors of a kind and it is an important responsibility to have.”
