Inspired by life events, Don’t Make Me Go screenwriter Vera Herbert shares about her dad dying when she was young and now full circle to the movie coming out while she’s pregnant with her first child, a baby girl. The This Is Us writer also talks about betting on yourself, taking risks and real life road trips.

John Cho stars in the film as Max, a single father who discovers he has a terminal disease and decides to try and cram all the years of love and support he will miss with his teenage daughter Wally (Mia Isaac) into the time he has left with her.

With the promise of long-awaited driving lessons, he convinces Wally to accompany him on a road trip from California to New Orleans for his 20th college reunion, where he secretly hopes to reunite her with her mother who left them long ago

Cho’s family was able to stay with him during filming, and we talked with the Star Trek star about handling tough conversations, forced family conversations in the car and more.
