Actress, model, musician, and fashion designer, Milla Jovovich has many titles but perhaps “mom” is her favorite.
“For me family is number one. The only way I can do what I do is to have my family close to me. I can’t take trips more than a week away from my kids.”
Jovovich and husband, director Paul W. S. Anderson have two daughters: Ever Gabo (9) and Dashiel (1). Her most recent film Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was a full on family affair. Her husband directed the film, her daughter Ever played the Red Queen and Dashiel was just months old so she was on-set. Co-star Ali Larter’s daughter is similar age so both working moms were able to nurse their daughters in between scenes.
“This was actually really special because obviously my husband is the director… [but] it was a very kid-friendly set — apart from like the zombies and stuff — but Ali’s son loved that! For our girls it was very cute because we set up this little astroturf area, underneath some dead bodies hanging, and there was a little pink blanket where we could bring the babies so they could crawl around, I was nursing. It was pretty surreal on a Resident Evil set to see Alice and Claire all covered in dirt and blood nursing their girls.”
Jovovich said Ever was seven at the time of production and that she “has been wanting to act since she was five. We put her in acting class and she loves it.” Regarding the whole family having roles or the opportunity to be together Jovovich said:
“To be able to be on set with my husband and my daughter simultaneously was absolutely magical. I’m so proud.”
