Whether you are an aspiring Olympian or just want to represent Team USA, TYR has got you covered from head to toe. TYR is the exclusive outfitter of the USA Swimming National Team. DIY WATCH PARTY IDEAS
Opening ceremonies kick off July 26 and competition runs for 16 days so families need some fun DIY Team USA inspired decor and favors. We used the Cricut Maker to help us get into the Olympic Spirit. There is this bundle set that is great too so you have lots of different options to start with.
The Cricut Maker works with 300+ materials, including popular materials like vinyl, iron-on & cardstock — plus felt, cardstock, leather, matboard and more which makes it ultimate smart cutting machine. They also have a bundle that comes with materials and tools. We went into Cricut Design Space to create fun photo booth props that could also double as centerpieces or be used when watching the sports to cheer on favorites. We created the Olympic rings, a patriotic Team USA and used gold glitter cardstock to create Effel Towers.
We caught up with Olympian Bryce Wettstein before she heads to Paris for her second Olympic games representing Team USA for Skateboarding so we decided to make her personalized stickers for her skateboard, helmet or waterbottle. First we found images in Cricut Design Space, then the kids colored them and personalized them with Bryce name. The using the Cricut Maker we turned them into stickers, printed them and brought to Bryce as a unique and special gift!
OLYMPIC-THEMED TREATS
The Olympics runs for two-and-a-half weeks so some fun Team USA inspired treats to munch on are a must! Some of our favorites are super simple and creative including — fruit kabob American Flag, Cheetos Cone Olympic Torches and Fruit-by-the-Foot Cookie Medals.
For the American flag, you need blueberries, raspberries, mini-marshmallows and small kabob sticks. Then you follow the sequence shown to have it become a flag. The ingredients can also be swapped for cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls or any red, white and blue combination of your favorite foods.
The Cheetos Torches are only two ingredients and the most simple of all, but we do have to say they are very fun and easy if you have to make more than a dozen for a larger party.
The Olympic Medals are my favorite and perfect for kids! We made sugar cookies (or you can buy the ready-made ones that come pre-cut) and once pulled from the oven we used a butter knife to cut a small slit for a hole in the top (this is optional because you could always just put the ribbon under the cookie and the visual is similar). We used one fruit-by-the-foot and split it in half to get ribbons for two cookies. We threaded through the hole. We placed 5 plain M&Ms to mirror the colors of the Olympic rings on the cookies — these can be set on top or hardened on with icing as the holding agent.
With the trio plated together it’s definitely a winning combination for any watch party!
