America is getting ready to compete against the world and we can’t wait! From athlete backstories, to team apparel, DIY watch party and more, Family Entourage is at Team USA California Training Facility as the Skateboarding stand-outs head to Paris.
TEAM USA SKATEBOARDING
At Paris 2024, 88 athletes will compete in skateboarding — 44 men & 44 women, half in park and half in street. Team USA announced this month the 12 skateboarders that will represent America in Paris and it’s not surprising that all 6 park skateboarders are from California! Watching favorites like Bryce Wettstein and Nyjah Huston. Many of your favorite skateboarders have been training at the California Training Facility as they prepare for the Olympics. It is the world’s first and only high-performance center developed explicitly for skateboarding
Most of us won’t be skating the Olympics in Paris, but you CAN sign up for summer skate camp at the very facility where many of this summer’s Olympians trained to prepare for the Games. The CATF Summer Skate Camp runs the week of August, which coincides with the Olympic Skateboarding Park competition. For more information on the CATF Summer Skate Camp and this amazing facility, check out www.ca-tf.com.
And whether you find yourself on a skateboard or just cheering for Team USA one way you can bring some of the fun home with skateboarding any age can do, with Tech Deck Olympic Games fingerboards. Each board features graphics from your favorite Olympic Games Paris 2024 skateboarders around the world like Mariah Duran, Jagger Eaton and more. Ride and grind your new finger skateboards for kids on the Olympic Games Paris 2024 X-Connect series. Build out the ramp sets like this one featuring Sky Brown (each sold separately) to create your own Tech Deck Paris 2024 fingerboard skatepark at home.
DIY WATCH PARTY TREATS
Opening ceremonies kick off July 26 and competition runs for 16 days through August 11 so families need some fun DIY Team USA inspired treats to munch on whether you are having a watch party or not. Some of our favorites are super simple and creative including — fruit kabob American Flag, Cheetos Cone Olympic Torches and Fruit-by-the-Foot Cookie Medals.
For the American flag, you need blueberries, raspberries, mini-marshmallows and small kabob sticks. Then you follow the sequence shown to have it become a flag. The ingredients can also be swapped for cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls or any red, white and blue combination of your favorite foods.
The Cheetos Torches are only two ingredients and the most simple of all, but we do have to say they are very fun and easy if you have to make more than a dozen for a larger party.
The Olympic Medals are my favorite and perfect for kids! We made sugar cookies (or you can buy the ready-made ones that come pre-cut) and once pulled from the oven we used a butter knife to cut a small slit for a hole in the top (this is optional because you could always just put the ribbon under the cookie and the visual is similar). We used one fruit-by-the-foot and split it in half to get ribbons for two cookies. We threaded through the hole. We placed 5 plain M&Ms to mirror the colors of the Olympic rings on the cookies — these can be set on top or hardened on with icing as the holding agent.
With the trio plated together it’s definitely a winning combination for any watch party!
LOOK LIKE AN OLYMPIAN
From track jackets and sweaters to ball caps, shirts and accessories… Ralph Lauren, which has been outfitting Team USA since 2008, has a variety of options to show your team spirit. From a Ralph Lauren Polo Bear logo tee to the Official Villagewear including the women’s field jacket. We love this men’s sweater with the Olympic Rings and American flag. The baseball jackets are a fun way to show your team spirit too.
Many of the teams will be playing late at night or in the early morning with the time change in Paris, we love this Barefoot Dreams Hooded Rib Cozy . Why not pair this New Era hat and Fanatics shirt to show your team spirit around town. Macy’s has so many great looks for the family as you cheer on Team USA!
