Whether you live in Southern California, Orlando or another part of the country, chances are a trip to Disneyland or Disney World can be pretty expensive for a family. Just the other day, our little guy asked to go see his “friends,” Mickey, Goofy and Donald. While every parent would love to take their kids to Disney whenever they could, we know that it just sometimes isn’t possible geographically or financially. That is why we love Disney on Ice. You can take your family to a show and experience some of that Disney magic. Tickets start as low as $15 a person and often there are group discounts. The shows change regularly so if your child has a favorite character or movie, chances are that it will be featured in an upcoming show. The website shares which movies/characters will be featured. We started bringing our little guys to the show when they were less than a year old. While they didn’t understand the story line, they loved the music and the lights. Since then, their love has only continued to grow. They couldn’t stop yelling, “Mickey!” at the last show. We apologize in advance to anyone that sits near us for our Disney excitement.
Here are Family Entourage’s Tips for Taking Your Family to Disney On Ice
- Make sure your Mouseketeers are fed! Grab a bite to eat beforehand and if possible bring snacks with you. Check with the venue what you can bring in. We recommend snacks water and juice boxes if you are able to. There is a short intermission but we find that it takes our family the entire intermission to get through the bathroom line and get settled back in our seats.
- It’s okay to be GOOFY! Get dressed up. From Elsa and Jasmine to Lightning McQueen, we love seeing the costumes that everyone wears to the show. T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and headbands are fun too. It can be fun to dress up as a family or just dress the kids in matching shirts.
- Be sweet like Minnie and get a special treat for everyone. It can be a flashlight, headband or T-shirt. We like doing our surprise before we go that way we can wear or bring it to the show.
- Don’t be a Sleeping Beauty! Pick a show time around everyone’s nap/bedtime schedule. As much as your child might want to see their favorite princess they might turn into pumpkin if the showtime runs last their bedtime.
- Take your Mickey Mouse Club with you. Go with a family member or friend. While we know this isn’t always possible, when you can try to go with another adult. This makes bathroom breaks easier to divide and conquer. You also have someone to laugh with. Plus, if you get enough people, there might be a group discount depending on the venue!
