Summer is around the corner and camps are top of mind! It’s not too late to sign your kids up for adventure and we share our favorite sports and activities to make Summer fun and memorable.

SERVE, SMASH AND SHINE – IT’S TENNIS CAMP TIME!
Tennis has been growing over the past 5 years with more than 25 million Americans spending time on the courts. Players under 25 account for 45% of this increase, showing a significant rise in youth participation and San Diego is one of the top cities in the country to play. Our kids have been playing for years and never miss a summer with Cliff Drysdale Tennis at Omni La Costa Resort.

Cliff Drysdale Tennis provides the ultimate tennis experience and an international team of tennis professionals who are certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association across the Omni La Costa’s 8 hard and 4 clay courts (7 of which are lighted).
Bryce Cunningham, Senior Director of Racquets, has been running the camp more than a decade and oversees the management of the tennis program at Omni La Costa Resort. He along with other pros and coaches share instruction, lead drills, play games and encourage competition for kids aged 4-16 years. Cliff Drysdale Tennis Camps run from June 9 through August 15. The 10 weekly sessions are arranged on different courts by age and skill level. With both morning and afternoon sessions, there is always fun being served up on the courts.
Plus if Pickleball is more your speed, you’ll have to check out the camps that were started at Omni La Costa last year and they were so successful all 5 weeks sold out! Daniel Mergener is the Pickleball Program Director on property across the 4 courts and enthusiastically invites all out for another summer of modern techniques and match play!

MUSICAL THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE
We’re all in this together at Scripps Musical Theatre Camp! Whether your child loves Broadway or just a good dance party in the living room, their summer camps are a perfect way for kids and teens to explore their love for singing, dancing and acting. Their camps combine expert instruction and imaginative activities and plenty of rehearsal time to put on the full live performance at the end of the week. With solos to choreographed dance numbers, every camper will have their moment to shine.
From classics like Wicked and Hamilton to favorites like Paddington and Moana, at Scripps Musical Theatre campers dive into the art of storytelling and creativity! It’s the perfect way to build lasting friendships, build memories and let their imagination take center stage! Our girls have enjoyed taking the theater classes over the last few summers and we have enjoyed watching the skills that they learn during the summer equip them to be more confidant in the classroom too!

HEALTHY FUEL FOR ADVENTURES
Whether you’re hiking, surfing, bike riding or just playing at the park, the right snacks can make all the difference when it comes to stamina and energy levels for all your adventures. Reach for trail mix options that are nut and fruit based, natural items like ojai pixie tangerines, berries and swap your juice box with an EZ Open Coconut.
We love Melissa’s because everything is so fresh and healthy as they are the leader in food safety. This helps us to snack smarter with collections like Melissa’s signature gluten-free, crunchy Clean Snax® which are available in nine delicious flavors, as well as their Organic Snax line that offers dried fruit like mangos and apricots. We love the milk and dark chocolate covered nuts and raisins, they are certified organic ingredients and zero shortcuts when it comes to flavor!
When fueling up with Melissa’s you bring a mix of flavors and textures to make every bite just as exciting as the adventure you’re on. These are some quick on the go snacks to pack for a day out that will be sure to give you the energy needed to conquer the outdoors.

BEAT SUMMER BRAIN DRAIN
Camps can get expensive and often fill up fast so a great option for families over the Summer is to take advantage of all the FREE classes the local library has to offer including their Summer Reading program. This helps to prevent brain drain and can be continuous during the long break. Keep a reading log and get rewards like food items and museum entry. From story times to crafts and STEM programs, the local branches also offer different activities and classes.
We love that there are a variety of classes from story time for toddlers to LEGO coding, MAKER space and even animation classes! Classes and programs vary at each branch so it is best to check the library website or ask your librarian for upcoming events.
