BIG BEAR: OFF ROAD ADVENTURES & MOUNTAIN THRILLS
A visit to Big Bear is more than just skiing and snowboarding… we had an absolute blast trying out new adventures, and one of the highlights was the Big Bear Off-Road Experience! This is so unbelieveably cool because YOU actually get behind the wheel of the Jeep and drive!! Don’t worry you follow a guide as he narrates the trip via two-way radio. Our guide, Tyler, was very knowledgeable about the history and nature of the area. Plus the guide will demonstrate obstacles in front of you then spot you through the obstacle making sure you are 100% comfortable navigating the terrain.
This is a great way to not only experience Big Bear, but build memories together as a family and learn more about the area. Big Bear Jeep Experience offers everything from beginner sightseeing trips to advanced rock crawling trips. We enjoyed exploring gold mining caves, hearing about wildlife and even smelling and tasting some of the plants. The kids kept commenting that they felt like they were part of the Monster Truck rally they so enjoy watching. One of our other must-try adventures in Big Bear is spending time at Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain. No matter the season, the chairlift ride to the top is stunning with sweeping views of the lake and the perfect backdrop to tackle the lunge-style slide. We hopped onto our individually controlled sleds which are perfect for solo riders or parents with kids. With two quarter-mile cement tracks filled with high-banked turns and exciting straightaways, every trip down was exciting!
And then came the Mineshaft Coaster! As California’s first, and only, mountain coaster, it really is a one-of-a-kind ride that allows families to experience a variety of thrill ride features such as steep descents, dips, twists, hairpin turns, tunnels, and 360-degree corkscrews! We especially loved the ride up to the top and that you are in control of the speed of your cart. Once wasn’t enough for us, we went a handful of times and can’t wait to go back.
FUN IN THE (SAFE) SUN
With spring break just around the corner, don’t forget to have some of your summer essentials ready. From the beach to the hotel pool, we make sure we are protected from the sun.
