Spring is the season of fresh starts, which makes it the perfect time to reset your home. After months of busy schedules, holiday clutter, and living out your New Year goals, our spaces tend to collect more than just memories.
To make spring cleaning feel less like a chore, we’re focusing on three simple areas: what to deep clean, what to donate, and what’s worth keeping. With the right tools from Lowe’s, refreshing your home can feel simple, organized, and achievable.
What Deserves a Deep Clean
Different areas of our homes either get too loved or get neglected, which is why doing a thorough clean is necessary. Living room floors, bedroom carpets, kitchen surfaces, and kids’ spaces can often collect crumbs, pet hair, and everyday messes.
Three Tips for Deep Cleaning
- Identify which areas need deep cleaning. We have everyone help with basic cleaning to help get a jump start on the deep clean.
- Divide and conquer. Don’t try to tackle it all at one time. We will sometimes do one area per weekend.
- Get the right tools for your deep clean.
Here are a few favorites:
- Dyson V8 Cordless Stick Vacuum –lightweight vacuum that makes it easy to clean high-traffic areas and stay consistent. The Dyson cordless vacuum makes it easy for all members of the family to help out, which we love!
- Quickie Microfiber Cleaning Cloths (24-Pack) – An affordable essential for wiping down kitchen counters, shelves, and bathroom surfaces.
- Bona Microfiber Dusting Wand – Great for baseboards, blinds, ceiling fans, and window tracks, those small details that make a big difference.
What’s Worth Donating
As you clean, it becomes easier to notice what no longer fits your lifestyle. Closets filled with unworn clothes, cabinets packed with unused kitchen tools, and playrooms overflowing with outgrown toys are all things worth giving a second thought. When it comes to decluttering, we find these rules helpful:
- Donate what you haven’t used in the past year.
- Donate if you wouldn’t buy it again.
- Throw away items that can’t be used by others (broken toys, clothing with holes, etc).
Having bins and baskets ready makes the process feel more manageable and a lot less overwhelming. We love setting up separate piles for items we plan to throw away, sell, and donate. Helpful things to help sort – keep, donate, consider. These make it easy to stay organized while you sort and avoid second guessing later.
What to Keep and Cherish
Not everything needs to go. The pieces we use daily, the items that support our family routines, and the things that hold special memories all deserve their place. When it comes to keeping special items, storage makes all the difference. Great organization solutions help keep everything neat and accessible. These storage options help protect seasonal clothes, extra bedding, and sentimental items without taking up unnecessary space. They keep everything clean, organized, and easy to access.
Some of our favorites include:
- VEVOR Storage System – This is a must for all of the sports gear.
- Style Selections 3-Tier Utility Cart – We put a bin on each tier for our kids’ toys and then when they aren’t playing with it or guests are coming over, we are able to tuck it into a closet.
- Small Clear Storage Tote – These are great for the garage or putting items in storage.
- Underbed Storage Tote – These are great for seasonal items or
- Fabric Collapsible Bin – We use these on our bookshelf for toys that have lots of pieces like blocks, toy cars, etc. It makes it easier for kids to put all of the items in the bin too.
