Halloween is just a few weeks away and we’re already thinking of everything needed for families during this Spooky Season. From haunting your house, to boo baskets, and scary good treats that are simple to make, Family Entourage is here to help us get creative.

HAUNT UP YOUR HOUSE WITH BALSAM HILL

Every year Halloween seems to get bigger and bigger and a huge portion of that is haunting up your house and creating a spooky setting for trick-or-treaters. We love Balsam Hill because they have the most creative ways to transform your porch as well as your home for Fall.

From gorgeous wreaths and garlands to floral arrangements and lights, you can’t go wrong with Balsam Hill because they have something for every style and and season. With Halloween approaching and Thanksgiving shortly we fell in love with the Tabletop Heirloom Pumpkins, Outdoor Rustic Heirloom Pumpkins and the vibrant Mums is beautiful matching Outdoor Woven Baskets.

For a more dedicated Halloween look, we adore the Lit Stackable Jack-o-Lanterns. These are great because they can obviously stack, or be used separately, they have LED lights, remote control and a timer making it so easy to create the perfect atmosphere. Or give a wicked welcome surprising the neighborhood with spooky scenes featuring familiar and frightful characters. Amplified by an eerie orange glow, the Outdoor Illuminated Halloween Silhouettes make for a perfect porch, lawn, or roof display at Halloween-themed parties.

BOO BASKET CRAFTS & ACTIVITIES

Boo Baskets became a fun trend and what we love about this concept is the encouragement to neighbors and support of the community… you can leave for someone you’ve never met, or surprise a co-worker or friend. Also depending on comfort/safety level of having kids go door to door collecting candy, parents can gift their kiddos a boo basket (instead of candy) and include handwritten notes and maybe an activity or favorite item from a local company or event.

Boo baskets can fit any budget from completely handmade to extravagant. We found these adorable printables from The Mama Project for banners. We added ribbon and some other fun things to make them pop. Next, we upcycled some pumpkin candy buckets with acrylic paint. Then we filled it with different items like festive socks, glow sticks and other items from the dollar section. Our kids love G3 Kids Gym and a certificate to go play is fun to put in their basket. They have open gyms, Parents’ Night Out and even themed events. We love the idea of trading in sugar for doing something active. This can also be a fun way to gift to a neighbor or friend too.

SCARY GOOD SNACKS

We LOVE a good theme and any time we can get creative in the kitchen we’ll find a way. Of course the kids freaked over Frankenstein krispy pops and they are really so simple to create but provide a big pop of fun! These are perfect to have the kids help make, even my preschooler did amazing because if the chocolate drizzles or the eyes are off it only adds that much more character to these monstrous treats! She even added eyelashes.. haha… these are great for a classroom treat or party too.

Frankenstein Krispy Pops — green square rice krispy heads, chocolate melts dipped for the hair, candy eyes, marshmallow bolts sprayed silver, all on a stick

For a healthier options utilizing fruits and veggies, we had a screaming good time transforming our bananas into ghosts, apples into monsters and adding eyes to everything 😉

These board literally took like 10 minutes to create. The note is that you need to make it right before you serve it since much of the platter is perishable.

Spooky Charcuterie — ghost bananas, tangerine pumpkins, monster peanut butter apples, spooky celery, and more…
