How many of you were forced to do some self-care that you normally leave to the professionals? Did you dye your own hair, cut your kid’s hair, or do your own nails? While no one could have predicted the events that have unfolded the past few months, one permanent change I’ll be making is home manicures. Confession: I’ve had my acrylic pink-and-white nails since was in my teens. I always kept them real short and still played sports, typed, and it made everything very easy. Until… I couldn’t go to a nail salon anymore. This lead me on a search to figure out what I was going to do. And then I found Olive & June.
In 2013 Sarah Gibson Tuttle founded Olive & June, naming the salon after her great-grandmother and grandmother, who taught her the importance of having high standards and a big heart. She says, “We believe no matter who you are, where you live, what you do, or what you wear, you can have a perfect manicure that makes you feel like your best self.” Liking the messaging behind the brand, I decided to give it a try.
What is really neat is that they have all the items you need for the perfect home manicure. I opted for The Everything Box. It includes their 8-piece mani system of tools and products from polish remover to their patented Poppy handle, cuticle serum, top coat and more. Plus, I got to pick five polishes!
I had so much fun with the process. It was actually quite relaxing and I could go at my own speed. I picked fun metallic colors and pale mattes, you have to understand, not only have I never had my nails off, but I’ve also never had color! I might attempt a French manicure in the future, but I thought I’d start with baby steps and just master the clean color.
Olive & June just restocked and launched fun summer colors too. If you are ready to take over your nail care and do your manicures, and pedicures, at home, you have to check out their products: https://oliveandjune.com/
