The beginning of the year is a great time to think of some goals as a family. For some it might be a resolution and for others it might be a theme or word they want to live by. It can be fun to share with each other your individual goals or resolutions and also come up with a few together as a family. We share some fun resolutions and review some items that can help you achieve it.
Plus, one lucky reader will win all of these items! Head over to our Instagram (@familyentourage) and enter on Monday’s giveaway post. (Giveaway is 1/8 9AM PST to 1/5 11:59PM PST. Open to US residents only. No purchase necessary. Not associated with Facebook or Instagram).

Ideas for family resolutions
Reset
After the holidays, we love hitting the reset button. It is hard to say no to all the holiday goodies. From adding more veggies into meals to making smoothies for snacks, the beginning of the year is a great time to get back on track with healthy food choices for the entire family. We love Beaming juice bar. And a great way to reset is through their cleanses. They have several lengths which you can chose from. We recommend starting with a one or three day if you have never done a cleanse before. They package each day so that you know which drink to have when. Their cleanses include salads, protein bites and soups, so you don’t feel like you are starving.
Dream Big
We love encouraging our kids to dream big! From career aspirations to setting goals, it is so important to model for our children the importance of thinking outside the box and being creative. We love Fearless Dreamer pajama sets. They were created by a dad whose dad created police officer pajamas for him as a child. He wanted to recreate that same experience for kids, enabling them to feel like they could do anything or be anything. Each set of pajamas is paired with a book that tells about an adventure of Freddy and Franny Dreamer saving the day, finding a cure and visiting Mars.
It can be so easy to sit in front of the TV to unwind. What starts out as one show, ends up being two hours. Reading more and watching less TV was always a resolution in our house growing up. We often had to read for at least one hour before we could watch a program. The same holds true for our family this year. Our kiddos love the books from The Mother Company. As parents, we love them too! They explore deep issues and aim to help develop the social and emotional skills in young children. It makes the resolution of reading easy to do together as a family.
Take Care of Yourself
Slowing down and taking time to care for ourselves can be a difficult thing to do. But sometimes finding things that help us take care of ourselves can actually free us up to have more time.
Softsie Pajamas are a great option for children with sensitive skin. They contain Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil and Aloe Vera, which is released into the skin when the child is wearing the item. Many friends with children that have skin irritations have a tedious bath and moisturizing routine. Softsie is a great way to take care of your child’s skin and hopefully cut back on some of that routine, and have more free time.
Slow Down
We live in a fast-paced culture that encourages doing as many activities as possible. My three-year old often wakes up asking, “What are we doing today?” or “Where are we going?” I love the resolution of slowing down as a family. Teaching kids to take a step back and think through decisions or slowing down can be difficult, but an important lesson. We love Slumberkins. They are plush animals paired with a story that teach kids different lessons. Started by moms with education backgrounds, they wanted to create a children’s product to teach children the social and emotional skills necessary for life. The Yeti Slumberkin helps to talk about the importance of not rushing from one thing to the next and taking time to reflect and think about things.
Travel More
Our family is trying to get out and about more as one of our resolutions. It can be fun to write down a list of places you want to visit or things you want to do. We often create a list for where we live and then a list of places out of town. We try to be mindful that the out of town list has to be a little shorter. Traveling can be a challenge with a newborn, especially one that does not like riding in the car. We are thankful for Baby Elephant Ears headrest which provides proper neck and head alignment. It can be used in the car seat, stroller, or baby chair. They have lots of fun patterns and many patterns have matching blankets. The minky ones are our favorite as they are super soft!
Declutter
With new toys and new things received as gifts from the holidays, it can be hard to find space for it all. The beginning of the year is a great time to declutter. We love the principle of giving away a basket, bag or box of things for every bag or box brought into the house. While it may not work one-for-one it is a great standard to help declutter. We love having a designated basket or bin that everyone knows they can put their giveaway items into. The Lorena Canals basket is great for this. Plus, once we are done decluttering it is a stylish way to store things. Our favorite part is that is machine washable.
We were given Elephant Ears, items from Lorena Canals, Slumberkins set, Softsie pajamas, Mother Co books, Fearless Dreamer pajama set, and Beaming cleanse for review. All of our thoughts and opinions are our own. Thank you for supporting Family Entourage. We use affiliate links.
