Whether you are one week in or several weeks into the new school year, there are often items that don’t quite make it on to the teacher school supply list. We share some of our favorite must-haves as we start out the school year.
A FRESH LOOK
One of our must-haves for Back to School fashion is Bird and Bean dresses. The girls adore the Tulle Party Dress. They love twirling in it, especially when they get to go to dance class. Bird & Bean has so many fun prints including animals, apples, rainbows and more. On cooler days, we pair it with a denim jacket and it is the perfect combo.
Bird & Bean uses fabric made of Modal and spandex, which makes it super soft, doesn’t shrink or pill, and is long-lasting. Modal is made from beech trees and holds its shape, color, and quality wash after wash after wash. All of their products are lead-free and safe too. In addition to their dresses, they also make pajamas, t-shirts and sleepers. We love that they are machine washable too!
ROLE PLAY WITH DOLLS
Doll play is one of the oldest forms of both independent and social play among children with wonderful benefits ranging from endless imaginative to strengthening fine motor skills, nurturing skills and social kills. Miniland takes it a step further wit their dolls encouraging inclusivity and inspiring kindness.
Miniland’s doll collection allows for children to find themselves and promotes empathy by better understanding others. They have an extensive offering of races from hispanic and asian to african and caucasian… plus they have dolls with down syndrome, glasses, and hearing aids. Different shades and types of hair and accessories for both girls and boys. Another way the dolls are different than others is that they are anatomically correct as well.
Miniland has great role play accessories from medical sets, to tea parties, feeding, beauty and care… whether you are taking your doll for a stroll or giving the doll a snack, kids are learning and having fun too.
GET CREATIVE
From crayons and colored pencils to watercolors and calligraphy pens, we love that Faber Castell has supplies for every artist-level. We especially love the World of Colors line, which features colored pencils, crayons and clay that you can blend to match your own skin tone. There is even a great set for how to draw faces. Our kids loved creating their own self-portrait. This can be a fun thing to do to start off the year and then have them look at how their artistic skills progressed over the years.
We also love their Creativity for Kids line which are boxed sets with all of the supplies you need to do an art project. From creating their own headbands and suncatchers to sensory kits, we love that it has everything you need all in one kit. These are also great to get for a classroom to support their art lessons or to give as a birthday present as well.
Healthy School Lunches and Habits
As the school year is underway, it’s a great time to get into a routine, start new habits and bring structure back into your family. An easy, and delicious, place to start is with meals.
Yasukochi Family Farms makes it simple by delivering fresh produce to your doorstep in their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) boxes. Each week a box of farm fresh produce grown using responsible farming methods and full of freshly picked produce grown by Yasukochi Family Farms located in Oceanside and other local partner growers provides all the produce and fruit needed for our family. From juicy watermelon to sweet strawberries, zucchini, brussel sprouts, peppers, potatoes and more, the seasonal selections is full of staples as well as some unique items to add to your recipes.
Each box will contain 11-15 different produce items and then there are add-on items like eggs, honey, flowers, fruit and more. We can barely bring our box indoors before the kids starts snacking on it!
