IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MEAT: THE BUTCHERY

With 4 locations in Southern California — Brea, Crystal Cove, Costa Mesa and Del MarThe Butchery is always our first stop for ingredients. The owners have a passion for cooking and so they made their stores focused on food sourcing the highest quality meats and ingredients available from the finest Farms, Ranches and purveyors in the West.

Each of their locations include grocery items built around their meats and cheeses, so you’ll find spices and accompaniments, honey chutney, and almost anything else you need to round out your recipes. We’ve included our ingredients list with each Tailgate Recipe so it makes it simple whether you shop The Butchery Quality Meats online or in store.

TAILGATE TERIYAKI SLIDERS

If you’re headed to the stadium or just hanging out at the house,  these Tailgate Teriyaki Sliders are the perfect addition to your gametime spread. We used marinated Teriyaki chicken from The Butchery and put it in the Instant Pot. You can also throw it on the grill too. We love putting it in the Instant Pot because we can prep other items for the party while it cooks and once it is done it is easy to shred. Next, we toasted Hawaiian Rolls. When the chicken is done, put chicken on the rolls, add cheese and a slice of pineapple. You can easily pack these up for the stadium or put on a platter and serve to guests. We like the smaller size too, because we often find there are lots of yummy options on game day.

Ingredients: Chicken Breasts, Teriyaki Sauce, Sliced Cheese, Pineapple and Hawaiian Sweet Rolls

HALFTIME HOT DOG BACON BITES

I know I know, we had you at bacon! These are so simple and a sure winner with any age. We picked up Wagyu Beef Hot Dogs and Applewood Smoked Bacon from The Butchery. The are a couple different ways you can choose to do your dog. We went the purest and took 1-2 strips of bacon and wrapped it around the hot dog and then used toothpicks to secure the ends on the grill. Once grilled, we let them cool and then cut them into bite size pieces so they are easy to enjoy and share all game long. The other option is that you can butterfly the hot dog and stuff it with shredded cheese, then you wrap it, grill and instead of cutting into pieces you can put it in a bun and serve with all your favorite toppings.

Ingredients: Hot Dogs, Bacon and Shredded Cheese (Optional)

TOUCHDOWN TRI TIP NACHOS

This is a staple for any sports event! Loaded nachos are always so delicious, but when topped with The Butchery’s Burgundy Pepper Tri Tip, well this elevates your shareable snack to a whole other level. The best part about Tri Tip Nachos is the customizable aspect. First you grill your steak to your liking and then you slice it into small chunks, you can shred it, or even just leave it in full strips. Then you place chips in a platter or on a baking sheet and cover the entire area with cheese. You warm it up on the grill melting the cheese and then you ad the tri trip sprinkled across the top. Now the variance comes in, we suggest even creating like a toppings bar where you can have beans, avocado, tomato, sour cream, salsa or anything else that you feel give your nachos a kick!

Ingredients: Tri-Tip, Chips, Queso Sauce/ Shredded Cheese, Avocado & Beans

CHAMPIONSHIP CHEERS: MACY’S TEAM SPIRIT

A fun way to show your team spirit is to create a championship cheers station. We took a glass Beverage Dispenser and created a signature drink using team colors. This can be a throwback to the hometown drink or a new creation. We went for a Blue Raspberry Lemonade and you can add fruits for more color and infuse flavor too. This keeps it family friendly, but depending on how your team is doing you can always add a little “spike” to the spirit! Next, we made sure to have Pint Glass with everyone’s favorite teams from LA Rams to the Bears. We love this Football Sports Ice Mold too as it adds that unique touch to the party. From the logo glasses to the ice, hot trays, dishes and more, Macy’s has everything you need for hosting a party. We couldn’t resist all the items especially geared toward football season and entertaining at a tailgate or home like the Sunday Football Dishtowels Set (you’ve seen throughout our photos) to the Touchdown Football Cutting Board, perfect for any bite size snacks… Macy’s makes it so easy because you can shop in store or online.

DIY FOOTBALL TABLESCAPE

If you want to level-up your football party, you can make a football field tablecloth. We got two yards of green felt from the local craft store, white duct tape and you can either cut out white numbers or use vinyl numbers. It is relatively easy to make. You can add logos or other printables too as a fun way to show team spirit.

Another fun addition to your party are taking mason jars and painting them different football themes. We used acrylic paint to create a playing field, football, and referee jersey. You can usually find mason jars at your local thrift store. This can be a fun activity for older kids to do too. We like putting silverware or straws in them for our serving station.
