School has started, pumpkin drinks are everywhere and Fall has officially started… so from fashions that transition with the season to dreamy decor, activities with the kids and more… we share tips to usher in Autumn.
Fall Fashions & Trends
Fall is here. It is one of our favorite times of the year. From apple picking to the pumpkin patch, we have to make sure we have an outfit that matches the event! Macy’s is our go to for Fall Fashion for the entire family. For our kids, we not only want them to stay warm, but want them to look fashionable too. We are loving this Ralph Lauren Varsity jean jacket. Perfect for cheering on the team and staying warm on those fall football nights. And we always find it helpful to have a puffer vest or fleece jacket with us for those days that start out warm but then cool down.
From parent/teacher meetings or a night out with friends, we’re loving the new On 34th Collection that just dropped from Macy’s. It’s designed to mix and match with everything in your closet allowing for transitions from day to evening, carpool to events. Sweater Blazers paired with a Sleeveless Blouse to car coats, sequins and the perfect purses or accessories to accent the outfit. One of our favorite looks from the collection is the pink blazer paired with a button up and jeans.
Home Decor All the Fall Feels
The change of seasons is so pretty and also a fun decor marker to transition into cooler weather…. so, from foliage and flowers, to harvest and Halloween, Balsam Hill is helping us get our homes ready for the Fall.
We love to start with color. We have fallen in love with the rich colors and textures of Balsam Hill’s wreaths and foliage. Like the Sweet Pear Wreath with golden tones and eucalyptus leaves or any of the Fall Wreaths that pair great on the porch with greenery or majestic mums in orange and red hues. We also love the newly added Dahlias and pot fillers. Balsam Hill also has many arrangements in softer palettes like the Fairytale Pumpkin collection. Perfect for dining tables, or upon entry.
We love items that can transition through the season too. Which is why we adore the Lit Stackable Halloween Jack-o-Lanterns. You can stack them or arrange them separately and they also have a remote so you can control if they flicker like a candle or hold a steady stream of light. The goofy grins are fun but once Halloween is over, we just turn them around to the back where it is solid pumpkin and now we have a stackable trio that can welcome Thanksgiving too. Or get a little spookier and cast shadows with eerie Outdoor Illuminated Halloween Silhouettes — these are great for porch, lawn or even the rooftop featuring familiar and frightful characters.
Support School Work with Books & Activities
The average parent spends 2-3 hours per day in the car doing pick up and drop off for school and activities. Even though we have a TV in the car, our family’s rule is that unless the car ride is the length of a movie, we don’t turn the TV on. Instead, each week, I have the kids select different books and activity books to put in the backseat. These can be books they look at while we drive, when we wait for a sibling to do an activity or if we go to a restaurant. Kane Miller is one of our favorite publishers. From picture books and activity books to chapter books and non-fiction, they have such a great assortment and they keep our kiddos engaged.
Another one of our favorite things to have on hand are activity books. Whether your child wants to practice writing different letters and words or wants to do a sticker book, Kane Miller has such a great selection of books that are not only fun, but educational too. Our kids love the Sticker Facts series which have fun facts about different subjects. The kids match stickers and learn about everything from Oceans to the Jungle. Kane Miller also has some great chapter and series books for older readers too.
