Our families love playing board games (truth be told, we have a whole cabinet full of our favorites). So when we heard CLUE: A Walking Mystery was coming to UCSD, we had to check it out. We loved the idea that we could literally step into an interactive adventure inspired by the iconic board game. We couldn’t wait to become detectives and figure out puzzles in this real life who done it?!
CLUE: A Walking Mystery is an interactive, IRL game of the beloved board game. In this version, the murder was never solved, the mansion sold, and the furniture from all nine rooms has been auctioned off and scattered throughout a specified area. Players must find the furniture found at local businesses and solve puzzles within them to figure out WHO did it WHERE and with WHAT. For more information and to secure your spot, visit ArtPower.ucsd.edu as it runs through September 28 at UC San Diego.

It was fun getting to see siblings working together to solve clues and even better when we had to put our heads together as a family to think through how the puzzles fit together. This experience is great for families, friends, co-workers, and teammates.
TIPS
-Get a group together! Whether it is your family or a group of friends, the game is fun with more people. Each group is given a map with a different route. So you are not competing against other groups.
-Wear walking shoes and comfortable clothing. The clues are spread out over the UCSD campus and takes about 2-3 hours and is close to two miles of walking. There are lots of places to sit down to think through your clues too if you need a break.
-Bring water, sunblock and a sleuthing snack.
-Celebrate your victory with a meal or sweet treat.

Walking all over the campus, we worked up an appetite. We celebrated solving the mystery at one of our favorite family restaurants, Sammy’s Pizza, especially since they have a location right in La Jolla.

Some of our favorite dishes include the lamb, wagyu sliders and signature BBQ chicken pizza… we couldn’t not end the evening without Messy Sundaes! But we also are loving the shareable churros and ube cheesecake added to the dessert menu too.

Looking to recreate the fun after the event? Why not try CLUE board game, CLUE card game,or Clue Jr.These are all great additions to family game night.
