Fall is here, and with it comes a whole new season of opportunities for kids to learn, play, stay active, and make memories. We share a few of our favorite ideas to keep your family busy and having fun all fall long.
ACE THE SCHOOL YEAR
Keep kids active long after the final school bell with the Omni La Costa After School Tennis Programs. Designed for beginners through competitive players, the after-school sessions and clinics focus on skill development, confidence, and game play in a fun, encouraging environment led by experienced tennis professionals.
Playing tennis enhances cognitive function, including decision-making, strategic thinking, and problem solving, while also improving focus and reaction time and Cliff Drysdale Tennis provides the ultimate tennis experience. With an international team of tennis professionals who are certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association across the Omni La Costa’s 8 hard and 4 clay courts (7 of which are lighted).
The After School Tennis Programs have sessions for kids elementary through high school at varying levels with two, seven week sessions. From tots to little pros, aces to teens, participants learn strokes, footwork, anticipation, and basic tennis rules. The emphasis is on building a positive attitude, sportsmanship, and proper technique working into point play, scoring, and basic strategy.
For kids ages 7-17 with the same two, seven-week sessions this Fall there is After School Pickleball Programs offered. Whether you are a beginner and seeking more of an introduction to learning specific strokes and court positioning, kids will learn how to play, keep score, and basic strategy.
TWIRL INTO FALL
With arts programs being cut from more school schedules, fall is a great time to add ballet, dance, or musical theatre to your child’s routine. Beyond coordination, grace, and posture, the arts build confidence, creativity, focus, expression, and teamwork. Ballet is beneficial for the brain due to it’s unique combination of physical and mental demands. Ballet routines require memorization of sequences & patterns which enhances cognitive function such as memory, attention and spatial awareness. Additionally musical theatre and dance enhance coordination and motor skills, and focus, concentration that can carry over into academics.
We love Scripps Performing Arts Academy for its focus on meaningful, age-appropriate productions rather than competitions and recitals. We’ve seen our own kids grow in confidence, musicality, and creative thinking through the program. With locations in Carmel Valley and Scripps Ranch, there are classes for kids through adults. Scripps Performing Arts Academy has ballet, musical theatre, other forms of dance and of course the annual Nutcracker shows. Utilizing age appropriate costumes and choreography, they produce beautiful and meaningful dance and musical theatre productions in lieu of dance competitions and recitals. Fall is the perfect time to sign up for classes, especially if you are wanting to be a part of their annual Nutcracker performance!
FROM PUMPKIN PATCHES TO HOLIDAY PARTIES
Get ready for the sweetest season with Sweet Wink!
