Destin Daniel Cretton grew up in a family of eight. There were six kids and his parents all living in a tiny house in Maui, Hawaii. He said they had their fair share of ups and downs.
His upbringing helped him connect to the memoir The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Cretton not only adapted the novel by co-writing the screenplay, but he also directed the feature with the same name starring Brie Larson and Woody Harrelson. It hits theatres Friday. Plus his sister Joy Cretton serves as a Costume Designer on the film too.
