Crafting Pizza with the Pros: Four Season Aviara Family Cooking Class

There is something special about cooking together as a family.

Bonding over the process as you mix ingredients, laughter, conversations and learning, combined with a floury mess needed to create the perfect individual artisanal style pizza brings sheer joy and a satisfaction that goes beyond taming your hunger. So we were thrilled to step inside Seasons working kitchen at the Four Seasons Aviara in Carlsbad for an interactive class with their chef.

We were welcomed to a private high top table where Chef Evan had bowls of dough waiting for each of us. The kids loved getting their hands into the flour and kneading the ball into what would become the crust of the pizza. How you work with the dough determines the size and shape of your pizza. The boys were full of laughter and covered in flour.

We then walked over to the counter where a variety of topping were available for us to put on our pizzas. This ranged from bacon and brie, to olives, onions and local sausage. Once complete they went into the wood fire oven and came out as bubbling masterpieces of cheesy goodness.

The pizza can be paired with a flight of craft soda or beers to add to the whole experience. We had such a great time learning how to cook and equally loved eating our delicious creations.

The Four Seasons Aviara is beautiful and Seasons restaurant is no exception. With large windows filling most of the wall facing the pool, there is plenty of light and gorgeous backdrop. We love how the restaurant got it’s name too. It’s named from the olive tree that’s on their Veranda. The tree is a gathering
place and roots us to our belief that food is best enjoyed shared among family and friends. It
also plays to their food style where their menu is every changing, seasonal and market driven.

We will definitely go back with our family. It’s perfect for a party, special event, or just a time where you want to focus on togetherness while making a sweet meal. Advance reservations are required. Adults are $25, children are $15, and it’s $10 to add the beer pairing $10. Craft & Crust is available moat Wednesdays at 3:00pm.
