Jon Hamm stars as the titular Fletch in the whodunnit comedy Confess, Fletch. He’s a former investigative reporter turned book writer based on Gregory MacDonald’s 1976 mystery novel. In this reimagining, Fletch is on the hunt for a stolen art collection and becomes on of the prime suspects in the murder of a women so he must set out to prove his innocence.
At the center of his chaos is his alluring Italian girlfriend Angela, played by Lorenza Izzo. Angela’s wealthy father has gone missing, raising questions both about what happened to him and the whereabouts of priceless paintings that he owned. Marcia Gay Harden also stars and is absolutely fabulous in the role.
We talked with Hamm about why he chose the second novel in the series to turn into a movie, and about tone and timing with director Greg Mottola.
