Jamming Out at Monster Jam

When I was a little girl, there was a good mix of girls and boys in our neighborhood. As a result, I wouldn’t just ask for Barbie dolls at Christmas, I would also ask for G.I. Joes and other “boy” toys. One year, my grandma got me a motorized Bigfoot truck. I would actually put my Barbies on it so they could ride around. While I loved Bigfoot, monster trucks weren’t very popular when I was growing up. Needless to say, I had never been to a Monster Jam. But now having a toddler boy who loves anything related to cars and trucks, he would go to Monster Jam every day if he could! I passed on my Bigfoot to my son as part of us telling him he was going to get to go to Monster Jam.

When we were getting ready to go, I reached out to some of my parent friends and asked them for advice. We put together their tips along with some of our own to help you with your Monster Jam experience!

Get Earphones

Every parent basically said the same thing. Some said they just bought the ones sold at the stadium, while others said they bought theirs in advance. I got our little guy Baby Banz ear Banz

They come in two sizes 0-2 years old and 2+. They are designed to protect little ones’ ears from loud noises like concerts, air shows, and car shows. We explained to our son that the ear phones had to stay on if he wanted to watch the show. He kept them on and didn’t complain about them hurting or being uncomfortable.

Arrive Early

The show starts right on time and like any other event at the stadium, you will need to go through security. Make sure to check with the stadium’s website for a list of items you and can and cannot bring into the stadium. Each venue has its own set of rules.

Get a Pit Pass

This was another piece of advice many parents shared. The pit pass is purchased in addition to your ticket and gives you the opportunity to check out the trucks up close and personal. Make sure that you note the time the pit pass starts and when the actual show starts. There is a bit of a gap between the two.

Dress for the Weather

The show goes on rain or shine, so make sure you check the weather forecast for the time of the show. Pack a rain poncho or jacket if rain is in the forecast. Even if it rains, you will want to make sure you can see the show. The rain makes the course slippery and from what we’ve heard an even better show!

Have a Blast

Yell, scream and get into it! This is one of the few times where you aren’t going to have to tell your kids to be quiet. It can even be fun to get a group of friends, neighbors or teammates together and go.
