Sports season always seems to arrive all at once, bringing busy schedules, weekend tournaments, and long days spent on the field. Whether you’re juggling multiple practices or settling in for a full day of games, having a few essentials on hand can make all the difference.
Over the years, we’ve found that being prepared not only helps everything run more smoothly but also allows families to fully enjoy the experience. From keeping gear organized to staying hydrated, protected, and entertained, these are some of our favorite team mom must-haves we reach for all season.
The MVP of Staying Organized On and Off the Field
If there’s one thing that happens every single season, it’s items getting mixed up or left behind. From water bottles to jackets and gear bags, it doesn’t take long before everything starts to look the same, especially when you’re juggling practices, games, and multiple kids. We love using Mabel’s Labels to keep everything clearly marked and easy to identify, giving the kids the freedom to focus on playing instead of worrying about their belongings. Their labels are durable, waterproof, and made to last through practices, games, and plenty of washes, making them a reliable go-to all season. These are especially helpful when you are doing team laundry.
One of the things that we appreciate the most is how customizable they are. With options for colors, fonts, icons, and sizes, kids can easily recognize their items, whether it’s by reading their name or identifying their specific color or icon. Mabel’s Labels even offers curated options, such as sports label packs, making it easy to label all your gear at once. You can also use these to label items with important information, such as allergies and emergency contacts, adding an extra layer of peace of mind.

Sliding Into Success
This season, as I coached my son’s Little League team, we had a handful of players, including my son struggle with sliding. My son even had a close play at home plate where he was tagged out, but had he slid could have been safe. He felt like the play cost the team the game. While I assured him that was not the case, we tried to practice sliding when we got home. From trying to slide across the hallway to using cardboard, all the things I had done in the past as a player didn’t seem to work. I reached out to some of the other coaches I know and they said they were struggling with the same exact issue.
So we decided to try Slide MVP. It was a game changer not only for my son, but we shared it with our team.We brought it to practice and used the simple instructions included with the Slide MVP mat to incorporate into our practice. Of course we had to gameify it, so I brought gummy worms to incentivize us to get “dirty” and for successful slides. The players enjoyed learning and helping each other slide. It made teaching sliding easier to teach during practice. We didn’t have to worry if the grass was soft or bumpy. The kids were able to get more reps and cleaner slides, which led them to having more confidence in base running.
Throughout the season, we would bring the Slide MVP out after practice for refreshers or if we knew we would have a challenging opponent. As a coach and mom, I loved seeing my son and the other players gain more confidence in their sliding, which led to more stolen bases. We also used Slide MVP as part of a whiffle ball game, where players had to slide into home base in order to score. It could also be used for pickle practices or diving catches too! It can be used indoors or outdoors and rolls up for easy storage. We also love that Slide MVP is a family brand started by coach Robby Little, alongside his wife and their two kids, built from years of watching sliding be rushed, skipped, or taught without real reps.

Custom Creations That Go Beyond the Field
One of our favorite ways to get into the spirit of the season is by adding personalized details to everyday items. Using Cricut, we’ve been able to create everything from custom water bottles and tote bags to team shirts and gear labels, making it easy to add functionality and personality to game day essentials. We love that Cricut Joy Xtra allows families to get creative while also helping keep things organized. Adding names, team colors, or even fun icons to gear makes it easier for kids to quickly spot their belongings. We love using our Cricut Joy Xtra to show our team spirit. Cricut Joy Xtra™ cuts, writes, draws, and foils intricate designs with precision. It works with more than 50+ materials, including vinyl, iron-on and cardstock. The best part is that you don’t have to be a professional designer!
It is also a fun way to get kids involved and excited for the season. From designing their own gear to helping create team items, it becomes part of the experience. With access to Cricut Design Space, our kids can choose designs, customize colors, and bring their ideas to life without assistance. We’ve even used Cricut to make small team gifts and keepsakes, which are always a hit at the end of the season or during a tournament. With so many ways to customize, Cricut makes it simple to bring a personal touch to the season.

Comfortable, Functional, and Field-Ready with Stelle
Spending hours out at the field calls for outfits that are as comfortable as they are practical, and Stelle World pieces have become some of our absolute favorites for those long game day hauls. This is a women-led brand founded by a mom of three, and you can feel the intentionality in every piece. We love that they have pieces for women and girls! The thing we love most about Stelle is how effortlessly everything works together. Mix, match, layer, and you still look like you had a plan, even on mornings when you absolutely did not.
For those early mornings or evening games when there’s still a chill in the air, our interns have been living in the Slim-Fit Athletic Jacket. They have it in both Petal Pink and Mocha, and it has quickly become the piece everyone is reaching for first. The four-way stretch fabric is soft in that buttery, cotton-like way, with thumbholes to keep hands warm. It also has invisible zipper pockets that are deep enough to hold your phone. It zips all the way up and fits close to the body without feeling restrictive. Pair it with the Short Sleeve Cropped Fitted T-Shirt Black or theClassic Fit Polo Shirt –depending on the vibe of the day. The cropped tee keeps things casual and easy, while the polo is a little more structured, great for days when you want to look pulled together without sacrificing comfort. For bottoms, they have been reaching for the Running Shorts 3” which comes in a variety of colors. The three-inch inseam hits in just the right spot, and the built-in pockets are actually functional, which, if you’ve ever tried to find a pocket in women’s activewear, you know is not always a given.

Whether your kids are traveling or headed to summer camp, Stelle World has some great pieces for their active days. Our daughters love the Athletic Shirt and graphic shirts paired with either the Let’s Bounce shorts or the pleated tennis skirt. They come in lots of great colors and both the skirt and shorts have built-in undershorts with a pocket. We love that they are quick-drying, lightweight fabric, adjustable elastic waist, built-in lining, and handy pockets. These are ready for anything from practice to playtime.

Keeping it Cool When the Heat is On
Long days in the sun make staying hydrated a top priority, and YETI has always been our family’s reliable go-to. One of our favorites is the the Silo Jug. It comes in 40oz and Half Gallon versions. We love that it has RockSolid™ Strength, which is great for our athletes on the go, PermaFrost™ Insulation for those long tournament days, 100% leakproof when closed, over-engineered fence hook and dishwasher safe. We also love that Yeti has the option on all of their items to customize. This adds such a nice personalized touch. It can be a monogram, team logo, number or name.
Our family also loves the Yeti Camino Tote and Yeti Hopper, and Yeti Roadie to carry all of our game-day essentials, from snacks and sunscreen to extra layers and gear. They are easy to clean, incredibly functional, and make it easy to keep everything in one place when moving from practice to games, or even just from field to field!

A Piece of the Season to Keep
Team bonding is one of the best parts of the season, and we love incorporating simple, creative activities whenever we can. BaubleBar’s bead kits are perfect for making custom bag charms or bracelets in team colors. These kits come with everything you need to make custom bracelets or bag charms, including alphabet beads, fun shapes like hearts and flowers, and even playful details like disco ball accents. Everything is neatly organized in a sturdy, clear case, making it easy to bring along in your game-day bag. We love using these to create pieces in team colors or to add players’ names and numbers to their gear. It’s a fun way for kids to express their team spirit and create something special they can use all season long.

Protect, Play, Repeat
With so much time spent outdoors, having dependable sun protection is a must. Tubby Todd sunscreen has been a favorite for its gentle formula, especially for kids with sensitive skin, while still providing the coverage we need during long days outside. We love keeping the Tubby Todd Sun Kit in our game day bag; it makes everything easy to organize. From sunscreen and sun stick to mineral mist and lip balm, this kit is designed to cover all of the bases. The Sun Stick is especially great for kids who are starting to apply sunscreen on their own, making quick reapplication easy between innings.
We also love to keep Makeup Eraser on hand for quick cleanup. Using their SmartErase technology, the fibers lift away sunscreen and impurities, making them more effective than traditional wipes. It is also a more sustainable option, which we always appreciate. With fun designs and collaborations, it is something that kids actually enjoy using. It is one of those simple additions that ends up being used way more than you expect.

Making the Most of the Season
Spring sports are about so much more than just the games; they’re about the time spent together, cheering from the sidelines, celebrating the little wins, and creating lasting memories along the way.
Having a few trusted essentials on hand helps take some of the stress out of busy schedules and keeps everything running smoothly so you can focus on what matters most: supporting your team and enjoying the season as a family.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about what happens on the field, it’s everything that happens around it that makes the season so special
