Room Transformations! Big Brother’s New Lair & Baby Sister’s Nursery

As we anticipate baby girl’s arrival in the next couple of weeks, the room preparation has been a long and very fun process. We needed to move our little guy out of the nursery and into his own new big boy room but we also wanted it to feel special and be reflective of his personality.

My husband suggested the idea of a reclaimed wood wall and getting our three-year-old in on the project. From bringing his “tools,” to his mini tool belt, he was all smiles helping and watching Daddy transform the space into his own lair.

The wall turned out fantastic but then we needed the right furniture and accent pieces to round it out. We did a reading area, a play area and of course bed and dresser.

But what really completed the room was the large Lorena Canals World Map rug. I had been looking for something that was classic but still youthful and I had already done the room in grays so the coloring was perfect. I love that it is handmade by artisans but a key point is that it is machine washable. With a toddler being able to throw the run in the washing machine is a game-changer.

But we couldn’t let brother have all the fun. My husband did a white panel feature wall in baby girl’s nursery plus he painted the other walls a pale pink. It took a lot of thought, sanding and painting, but in the end I was so pleased with the overall very soft look of the room.

We also decided to use gray as an accent color, along with gold to the already pink and white scheme. Lorena Canals had the perfect Zoco Ash Rose-Natural Basket to complement the room. It’s handmade from 100% natural cotton and non-toxic dyes which is important in a nursery welcoming a newborn. Plus it’s size is great for holding blankets, books, toys and more. Just like the World Map rug, it too is machine washable.

Lorena Canals has so many great items from rugs to baskets, pillows to wall art, even blankets to complete any room. Be sure to check out their collection at: https://lorenacanals.us/

***I was gifted the world map rug and Zoco basket but the room transformation ideas were my own as well as my thoughts, opinions and design.***
