Monster Jam

Vrrroooooom! Giant trucks, loud noises, stunts and races — these all mean one thing — Monster Jam is in town. We thought this would be the perfect Father-Son day, so we sent the men of Family Entourage to the high-octane event.

Monster Jam features the most recognizable trucks in the world. We couldn’t get over how HUGE these trucks are either. We’re talking more than ten feet tall and weighing 12,000 pounds! Plus can you believe each tire weighs about 645 pounds?! Once you know these statistics, it makes it that much more incredible to witness a truck get airborne, let along a full truck flip! It’s also important to remember that Monster Jam trucks are designed to protect the driver at all times including a specially-constructed roll cage built to house the driver.

Now that we understand the size of this trucks, let’s go see them up close. Here’s where you definitely want to have a Pit Party pass. The Monster Jam Pit Party is where you can see these massive trucks up close, meet your favorite drivers and crews, get autographs, take pictures and enjoy other family-friendly activities. These Pit Party starts several hours before the show and requires a separate admission ticket, along with a ticket for the Monster Jam show.

Pit Party: Meeting the Drivers and Autograph Session

Our guys enjoyed getting to meet the drivers and see the different personalities reflected in the trucks they drove. Once the party was over, they headed in the event. With almost two hours in between, our guys found their seats early and grabbed dinner. On the monitors there is a preshow including interviews with drivers and features of the different trucks.

As the event began it was important to put on headphones to protect hearing, man does it get loud! The trucks participate in all sorts of competitions and even some of them, the audience helps judge. The race and freestyle competition were two highlights. A tip with younger kids is to let them pick out a couple trucks they like (our guys top picks Dragonoid, Saigon Shaker and Earth Shaker) and then follow and cheer them on all night.

Monster Jam is coming back to San Diego, at Petco Park on February 15. Or check MonsterJam.com to find out when the tour comes to a city near you.

***We were gifted tickets to Monster Jam but our thoughts and opinions are out own.
