While the weather may not be fully transitioning to fall, our fashions can still reflect one of the best seasons! Whether you’re picking out the biggest pumpkin, sipping cider, or planning a socially distant photoshoot, we share some of our favorite styles, colors, and tips to outfit you family for all your fall festivities.
START WITH A STATEMENT PIECE AND BUILD AROUND IT
One thing that we like to do is to pick a color or two and pull outfits in that color. Pick your outfit or your child’s first and then pull colors and textures to build. There might be a special dress or outfits that you want to highlight and then go from there. We lay everything out to make sure that the colors match and if there are patterns that they compliment each other. When doing family photos, we like having solid colors and some pattern, but we don’t want things to be too distracting either.
We love Wildflowers Clothing Co. From dresses and skirts to sweaters and knee high socks, they have the brightest colors and the most adorable details on their outfits. Whether you have girls that want to match or just want different outfits, but still coordinated, they have several pieces in each collection to coordinate looks. They even have some looks for boys and mommy and me outfits.
PICK A PLAID OR STICK TO THE PALETTE
Fall can be a great time to take family photos for Christmas cards. We enjoy using red plaid as a base for our photos. This can be a great theme especially if you are doing extended family photos because red plaid is relatively easy to find. Some stores even sell coordinating looks for the entire family. When we do a plaid look, we send photos of the type/color plaid that we are using so that way one person doesn’t show up looking drastically different than the group. We also encourage accessorizing with festive hats, scarves, jackets or vests. This can also be a great option if your family has a hard time dressing up.
LAYERS ARE YOUR FRIEND
From apple picking and tractor rides to visiting the pumpkin patch, we love snapping photos at all of the fall festivities. But fall weather can be finicky. One day it is breezy and cool and the next day it is in the 80s. We love layering with Appaman. Our kids love expressing themselves with Appaman. We start with one of their fun and funky graphic tees then pair it with one of their plaids, parkas or puffer vests. From rose gold to more classic colors, they have so many great styles for keeping your kids warm. We find it easier to pair flannel shirt or thermal with a vest or jacket that way if they get warm, they can take off the layering piece and still look fall photo ready!
BOOTS, SNEAKERS AND METALLICS, OH MY!
Break out the boots, it’s Fall! Well, it might not be boot weather just yet in all the States, as temps are still soaring, but nothing beats a great boot this time of year so we’re stepping into our pedipeds.
