Grammy-nominated singer Andra Day started out singing at church in Chula Vista, she went to Performing Arts school in Paradise Hills, and did mashups in her sister’s bedroom… so it’s safe to say her San Diego upbringing definitely shaped her career.
Now she makes her film debut as Billie Holiday is Hulu’s The United States vs Billie Holiday… and the accolades are already pouring in being nominated for both Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards for Best Actress, and Best Song.
We talked with Day about her time in America’s Finest City, transforming into Holiday and prepping her parents for her role.
